Normpack®
What is Normpack®?
The Association of Dutch Flower Auctions and the wholesale business have cooperated to launch the Normpack® brand. The Normpack® system is brought under trust by Sivepo. Normpack® is: standardized plants packaging c.q. plants trays with assured quality. The trays are standardized concerning measurements, design and quality.
The Normpack® trays are manufactured under license by a limited number of producers that have the rights to put the trays on the market. Growers can supply their plants in these one-way trays to the auctions and by that they are assured of the settlement of the packaging costs. At this moment a yearly amount of 140 millions of trays is being produced, about half of that is being sold via the auctions to the Dutch and European market. The other trays are being sold to parties that do not trade via the auctions. Meanwhile a sixth special has been approved and added to the Normpackrange. This special is the 401-S06.

During the Hortifair 2006 Erik Leeuwaarden has put the limelight on the Normpack® producers on the occasion of the selling of the 1.000.000.000th Normpack® tray.

Quality test Normpack® tray
The quality of Normpack trays is being monitored on a regular base. To test the strength of a tray Sivepo has developed a special testing machine. Movie
Recycling one-way pot plants trays
Sivepo participates in reducing packaging waste. Since 2003 the auctions collects one-way trays and under trust of Sivepo the handed in Normpack® trays are being processed to regranulate. This regranulate is suitable material to produce new trays. From the beginning of 2004 flyers have been spread among the parties in the branche to inform about the project and the recycling process.
In 2006 about 1.800.000 kg regranulate was put in use by making new Normpack® trays. For more information call: +3171-5659626
