The use of stickers on the containers created a strong increase of dirty containers. In September 2003 a project has taken off to solve this problem. This resulted in developing standardized stickers that are able to cope with the cold store (sufficient adherence) and the washing machine. The use of these approved stickers is now compulsory.

In the preparatory stage of the project, the stickers were being tested in the washing machine conveyor at the three largest auctions. It appeared that after fine-tuning the machines the stickers came off for the greater part. In the transition period for the traders of changing to the new type of stickers, the auctions will take care of the needed adaptations of the machines to ensure that the stickers can be washed off completely. The Aalsmeer flower auction has adapted the machines already. Stickers off the more-way boxes (fc519)

It is desirable that the removable stickers can be used on the more-way boxes. This will only be possible when the boxes that are produced are provided with a piece of film where the stickers can be removed from. This ground allows to remove stickers from the lid without damaging it. Advantages:

• cleaner boxes;
• only one type of stickers for both plastic containers and paper boxes;
• it leaves no doubt which sticker is compatible with the transaction.

The sticker project starts with the fc519 box, the more-way chrysanthemum box. At the on end side of the lid a film will be applied at bot sides left and right. On this film the stickers can be applied. Movie

Sivepo expects that in november of 2007 the first boxes whit the labelground will come into the pool. Of course Sivepo will communicate to the traders community about this subject.

 

Sticker specifications

At this moment two types of stickers are approved by Sivepo:

Panoval 304 WR

Raflatac RP 45

• For both type a maximum size of 130mm by 85 mm is fixed (5,1181 inch by 3,3465 inch);
• The back of the sticker has to be adhered to the box fully. So the sticking of a so-called ‘slit’ is not secure enough and its quality can not be trusted. Thus, ‘slits’ can not be used as Normpack® stickers;
• The stickers can not be used more than once. A sticker can not be adhered again after it has been removed;
• At the beginning the washable stickers are meant only for use on plastic containers and not for containers of other material;
• On a short term the paper flowers boxes will be provided with a special ground layer where the sticker can be put on.

The types of sticker mentioned above are being provided by a number of suppliers. Sivepo has a license agreement with these suppliers. When having this license they have the right and the obligation to use the Normpack^® logo at the inner side of the sticker roll and possibly on the finishing label of the roll. Management and supervision

To ensure a correct use of the stickers supervision and (quality) control is necessary. In cooperation with the auctions and the traders community the following measures have been taken:

• each user of approved stickers uses also a unique number on each sticker (for example a traders’ number) that can be tracked down to an approved sticker of an approved supplier. Traders' number for stickers;

• control at the handing in process. In case of problems the user or supplier can easily be found out by tracking down the unique number;

• each approved sticker roll can be recognized by the Normpack^® quality mark at the finishing label and/or the inner side of the roll;

• control on the use of stickers by randomly visiting the buyers’ areas by the auctions’ personnel.
